a bag of money that was unmarked, would you take it? Ugh- NO! I believe in Karma, What you put out into the world is what you get back. God forbid the person who lost it's life depended on it. Come on people, THINK about it! There are only so many reasons why a bunch of money would be in a bag like that and NONE of them would make for a happy ending. |

I think I would place an ad in the paper stating I found the bag. I would list just my cell phone #, and tell anyone who could describe the contents that they can pick their bag up at the police station. That way if it was being legally transfered and lost, they can surly prove their ownership somehow.

Turn it over to the law, if unclaimed it is legally mine. Just have to have patience.

I would also turn it over to the police...if not claimed, maybe it would come back to me.
A teller in drive-thru at the bank once gave me $20 too much, I drove around pointed out her mistake and gave it back. Another time I found a checkbook with a $1400 balance in it...I turned it over to the customer service desk at the store. Heard on the radio the other day about a guy who won a $65 million lotto...after having his ticket checked at the store where he purchased and finding out it was THE winner he mistakenly threw it away. He contacted lottery headquarters and told them what happened and that he still had the receipt, (which happened to have ticket number on it). Lottery officals told him he'd have to wait a full year to see if anyone else found the ticket and claimed the jackpot. A year went by no one came forward with the ticket and the guy was able to claim his jackpot with the RECEIPT! Lucky dude...but what a hard year that must have been...all that waiting!!! |

I'd sure think about it, but the guilt would kill me, so I wouldn't keep it.

This happened to me. I called the police, they came & got it. Later that day the owner showed up at the police station to report it missing. The bag had over 4,000 in it. My biggest fear was that is was a drug drop & the guys would come looking for me. The people were sailing around the world, they were at a local boat show. The police said if it had not been claimed I would have been able to claim it after a certain period of time, I forget how long. No regets at all.

I once chased a guy through the airport to return the money clip he dropped in the duty free. It looked like a lot, and he later told me there was 2 grand in it, and without it he would have had trouble getting access to cash where he was going. I missed my flight, but caught the next one 2 hours later with an extra hunsky in my pocket. At the time, it was much needed too. |
