Topic: Price match BS | |
---|---|
Just wanted to vent a little on what I consider bad business. Both circuity city and best buy advertise price match guarantees. If you find an item in stock at another local store they will match it and beat it. Both stores denied to match the price Fry's has on a megellan 4250 GPS. Thats just bad business. If you don't honor the guarantee then it is not much of a guarantee.

You know what? Fawk Best buy! And circuit city is closing down some stores for bankruptcy anyways. I say Fawk best buy because twice I ordered something through them online that they do not carry in stores. First tone has shrink wrap only around the outside of the box, while it seems the discs could be slipped in an out to view any time. Well they came in used condition. 4 discs were fawked up. I sent it back, they sent me another of the same. This time all was shrink wrapped. I felt confident, but oh no....... 1 disc that was impossible to break loose during transit, appeared to have millions of little surface scratches. The only disc like it. I contacted them for the second time and told them "WTF?! Do you guys sell used $#!T or what? Is that why you claim you can offer a better deal?" Now the problem here is I had gift cards to use (I hate gift cards, but I didn't want to waste them) so I found something I might actually want and this happened. They were like "nah, we don't sell used stuff". And I was like "Well if it doesn't work, I am sending this $#!T back to you". It worked and they wanted me to fill out a survey. Told them they can Fawk off and that I will only go online to see what is already out so I can purchase it somewhere else. They can take their online ordering and shove it up their @$$. The End |

I am a retail manager, and the advise you are getting on here is correct. The clerk behind the counter doesn't have the authority to do anything, always ask for the manager on duty.

What reason did they give you?
Here are the reasons I have heard about before: There are no stores in the area. The ad you showed them was printed out from a newspaper in Albany, NY for example. The price is an online special. It needed to be in store. When I go into the store and want a price match they will call the competing store and ask the price and if it is in stock. Did they do that? |

Well there manager wasn't in and I asked for the # for the district manager and all they gave me was a call line, which I will call tomorrow. They basically told me that if they went that cheap that they would be losing money if they sold it too me that cheap. Thats not my problem. You offer a guarantee and you either honor it or you don't. Apparently Fry's can sell it at that price and not lose money. Besides its better to take a $50 loss now than how much you lose if I no longer shop there (and I am a big tech shopper). The reason I don't want to buy it at Fry's is because I am fixing to move across the country hence the GPS. If something is wrong with it I want to be able to return it and they don't have Fry's near where I will be moving. |

Its the magellan 4250. Thats the make and model. Fry's regular price is also $500. CC even called and confirmed it was the same thing. Just told me they would lose money if they went below $350. |
