Topic: WOW! How is this for a deal?!?!?!?! | |
---|---|
Just got a newspaper clipping mailed to me from a friend who works about an hour out of town.
A local car dealer offered every vehicle on his lot (new or used) for $29 down and $99 amonth for the entire time it takes to pay for the vehicle PLUS 99 cent gas (Available on the lot it's self for the people buying a vehicle from him) upto 1250 miles per month...thereby encouraging the use of more fuel efficient cars to get more gas per month. Apparently the guy was tired of the fact that government refuses to help out his community so he did something about it himself. It was supposed to be a four day sale....before noon of the second day....every last vehicle on the lot was sold. |

I hear ya Carmen! What got me was he didn't even do credit checks because he was making them so affordable! That guy needs a parade in his honor!

Hmmm, let's see. Take an average car price of around $24,000. Best interest rates for one with good credit is 7%. It looks to me like payments of $99 per month just might allow one to pay for a car with this deal in about 50 years! Oh yeah, that's well over $50,000 in interest payments! Whew!
I guess the gas should come at a discount. Such a deal! |

That is true however, if you can rent a car for $100 a week and still gotta pay for gas...it is a bargain in comparison. It had a 6.25% interest rate...I admit I didn't do the math but, just doubling the car payments to $200 (Easily doable) would still cut it by quite a bit..and oh yeah, the 99 cent gas would certainly help split the difference.
Sure the guy has to make a profit. But, I doubt anyone who scooped up a car/truck or SUV from him is complaining. |

I understand! The guy just brought out governers from 12 or 13 states to show off SweetWater as a model of "Green" Windpowered efficiency.....I think the town of about 80,000 is 65% wind powered. Kind of nice when a philanthropist shakes things up on a local and tangible level.
From what I read in the article, the dealers cost for gas per vehicle $1,188.25. Like I said...he is just trying to prove a point to the oil industry (Which is still big out here) that they aren't as all powerful as they believe. |

I like those wind turbines. We are too forested for it to become a practicle means here, but in the mid and southwest it is a great idea!

If it clues you in to the size of the project....I work in the bottled water industry and the windfarms use about $60,000 worth of drinking water per month....it is a monster field.
The only bigger wind farm is in Germany....go figure! |

Yes well more wealthy people should follow his example. Instead most want to drain this country bone dry. Well when they start losing millions because no one is buying then they might get a clue. |

I hear ya honey! Believe me, I live in the Texas oil belt and done plenty of work as a roust-a-bout. Things are definitely changing. On one stretch of road that leads east....you drive through hundreds of miles of Wind turbines...a few oil pumps and the occasional windmill (for water).....it feels like you can see the progression of the energy industry as you pass...it is kind of neat!
