Ok I have this guy friend. Well actually he was a friend of my ex and well needless to say that my ex burned both of us. Well anyways we have been talking over a year and it is just "friends stuff" nothing else. Well we met up on the 4th just to hang out his parents even stopped by. Then him and I went and got lunch. However he picked up the check. Once I told my friend about this she automatically started telling me that it sounded like a date. But I find that hard to beleive it was just a normal lunch nothing went anywhere. I mean in my mind it was kind of a fair trade even though that is not what I was expecting him to do since I did drive into town to get food. I dont know. What do you guys think. We have never had a "more then friends" type of coversation or anything.
Thanks everyone! I just wanted to make sure I wasnt going crazy. I know I haven't dated in over 4 years so I was starting to doubht my common sense in this whole thing.I am not crazy ! yay me! |

I think she was reading way too much into it. |

Depends completely on how he acted and the impression you got from it. I buy lunch for my female friends all the time, doesn't mean anything. If I wanted it to mean something I would say something like "Let me get this one for you" or anything that would draw attention to it.

only you and him know what really went on...
whats the big deal if you and him had lunch and he picked up the tab? doesn't mean a date at all... now if you two had said "THIS IS A DATE" then it would be... |

That is exactly what I thought. I told her that and she thought I was completely crazy I was just wondering what other people were thinking on this one.

just because he bought you lunch doesnt mean its a date.. i buy lunch for my friends and they have been known to buy me lunch.. its no big deal.. friends do that kinda thing
i think your friend is reading waaaay too much into it |

I kiss on the check and hug my close female friends it means no more than I care and love your friendship...
Some guys are not able see beyond the opportunity for sex so only you and he knows...... But the fact you ask this question I wonder what is in your heart?????? |

Just because he picked up the check does not constitute a date.MHO

If I was asking this question on here about a friend it would be because I was hoping there was something more than "just friends".
Otherwise I would have told my friend they were wrong and forgotten about it.JMO |

I think it was just lunch with a friend who happened to be nice and pick up the check.
Next time, maybe you get the check. Its just among friends. |

if he didn't demand sex for picking up the check...then it wasn't a date....
