I've thankfully only had them a dozen times in my life. I do not know how people can live with them with such certain frequency. Mine usually have to do with weather, so I take antihistamines and decongestants with the ibuprofen, stay in the dark, try to pass out into sleep.
I'm so sorry. I hope it gets the heck done with!! |

I get them often...my neurologist says the best cure is three extra strength Excedrin. The caffeine and aspirin combination is what helps. I am allergic to all the prescription pills unfortunately.

I find when I have migraines that my neck and shoulder get really tight. sometimes a few ibuprofen and some ben gay on the neck help alot. and a dark quiet room. 2 days in a row for me once a month. not fun at all. I feel your pain.

it almost feels like when i had a concussion. that was no picnic Also, migraines are often caused by too much or too little blood flow to the head. Ibuprofen will only work if it's too little, but can make it worse if it's too much blood causing it. The best thing for this is feet in warm water and ice on your head. Do this for 10-15 minutes every half hour. Any more time than that and it can cause the reverse effect. I don't have a headache for longer than an hour when I do this. For a migraine it may take longer. Also, taking Ibuprofen too regularly can actually cause some people headaches because it will dilate blood vessels, causing too much blood flow to an area. Good luck! |

Topamax is a good preventative for migraines but is prescription so need to see your doc for a prescription too. Some food allergies can cause this problem too. Food allergies can cause sinus problems too. You may want to have allergy testing done and see if you test positive to any foods and then eliminate them from your diet, that helped my headaches a lot.
Hope you feel better soon. Stress also plays a role, of course. Take care of yourself, Steve. |

Ive had them since I was about 13. They are the really bad ones. No light, sound or strong smells....
They finally gave me Imitrex. I use the nasal spray kind, 20 mg on time use sprays. It only works well if I do it before the headache gets really bad. then it only works a bit to tone it down if I take it too late. I do have one I carry with me, but they also have the shots and the pills. You might askabout it and see if it is right for you. Hope this helps. I know what hell is like when I have a migraine. |

I have really bad sinus headaches and I have for years. They said its because my adnoise(sp?) is too big and the only way to eliminate the headaches all together is to operate. Suggestion go easy on the ibprofen, aspirin, and/or tylenol.... the effects on the stomach can be worse then the headaches. See your docotr and have then put you on meds specifically for migraines and look into preventative meds like allergy or sinus meds.... JMO

Migraines can be triggered by many factors.
Stress, change in weather, change in sleeping patterns, food allergies, and medications. my oldest son has had every test possible to find out why he has his,I had to keep a daily journal of everything he ate, time he went to bed/woke up ,and the weather for the day(barometric pressure)come to find out every time the pressure was over 29 he had a migraine |

I have been a migrain sufferer for 7 years now. It is a horrible thing to go through!! I have between 23-29 migrains per month so I am in bed most of the time.
I have done many things to try to get rid of them...botox, IV pushes in the hospital for 4 days and now my doctor wants to try medical marijauna. I am totally against drugs so I doubt very much I will try that!! I am on preventatives as well as migrain medicines and nothing seems to help. They say that I have to much stress in my life..how do you get rid of stress?? So if you are going through some hard times in your life or if something is really bothering you...maybe that could be it?? I wish you luck because I know how bad these migrains are |

I am against drugs too..Dont use them at all..BUT in the case of medical marijuana I tend to think a bit differently.. I have a friend who has CP (cerebral palsy) She is prescribed it and has a lisence.. Its given to her for the extreme muscle spasms in her legs..Her legs cramp so bad it leaves bruises.. It helps her so much..
Ive heard it has wonderful effects on migraines.. best of luck to you guys.. Ive suffered with the damn things for more then 20 years |
