I deactivated instant messenger on here, but somehow I am still getting instant messages that go straight to my yahoo instant messenger. How in the heck are ppl still able to do that and how do I stop it? Each time, they say they are from this site and then when I ask for their username from here and look it up, I find that they are deactivated and I hit the "ignore" button on my messenger. What to do?

Same problem here
My problem actually started with that yesterday. Had a guy start messaging me...told me he met me on here, called me his lovely WIFE and that he hoped we could always be in love. I have no clue who he was. He wasnt from this ummm country should I say.

You guys dish out your email to any Tom D-i-c-k and Harry and then they pass it on to others and then you complain
Unless you give your Email address to any one it is not possible
unless your user name is the same as your E mail address then they can guess
Any 12 year old chimp can guess lyn123 may have an yahoo address with that name yahoo dot com

Yes mine is the same but that doesnt give Tom, **** or Harry the permission to ask me what is my favorite position or what size are my Melons. I will talk to anyone..well the ones who show respect that is.

Before anyone can chat with you on yahoo messenger.. you must FIRST accept the invitation.. if you don't know the person, don't accept! simple:wink:

Today I have gotten 2 different IMs on yahoo. Both stating they found me on mingle2 and both from CA. There was no request first just they chat box came up and wanted to chat with me. Both I asked for the username so I could look up thier profile and read it before talking to them. Both were acountes were deactivated. How do you keep them from invading my yahoo.

Thanks for your help

Hi, everybody. We do not give out your email addresses. I want to make sure that we are clear on that issue.

As robert1652 noted, keep in mind that it is possible for others to guess your email address from your user name (lots of people use the same user name across various sites). Also, if you've given out your email to anybody on the web with questionable credentials, then there's a good chance that he/she has shared that information with other shady people.
