depends on the situation..........but in most cases i would defend them at the time of the "incident" and tell them in private how wrong they were........

If I thought my partner was wrong, I'd try to discuss with her why I thought she was wrong. If my partner could not change my mind and persisted, I wouldn't defend her. Instead, I'd bow out of the situation.

I'm reading this and wondering about the state of our society where any answer to the question "Would you defend your PARTNER even if he/she were wrong" except "Absolutely" is tossed about.
We ARE talking about our partner, not our kids...right? And we are talking about defending as in standing by. Right? And not just taking opposing sides in a rational discussion? I think "defend" and "taking her side" are different things. Defend means to intervene, ward off attack, etc. Anyone who has ever been in a meaningful relationship already knows two things about this. First, if you "side" with another person, especially in a full blown argument...it's not gonna be good for you there, on the ride home...or in bed that night. Probably a few nights. And secondly, that we can all can disagree in our beliefs without having to state them when it conflicts with those of the one you love. All my girls been Cajun so my answer is "I'm gonna side with her if she's flat out, stupidly wrong when she's right there. Probably give the other person a nudge when she's gone to powder her nose (or in mines case, sharpen her machete) and tell them "I may agree but lets not rile her up". It's better to know that you're right than to win an argument. Better for your sex life too. |

So would you lie to her ?Making her think you agree with herwhen you don't ?
No I would not and yes, I would take the other persons side if they were right. One of the key differences between the sexes I have noted is that most men expect this from their friends whereas women do not (rather be lied to than face the truth- i.e, am I fat etc.).
