Cold turkey. The first three days are physical after that it is all psychological. The gum and patches...in fact the quit smoking programs are all sponsored by the cigarette companies. They want you to stay hooked on their products. They also want you to believe you can't quit without their help. It's a lie. Buckle down and do it. After 3 months you are over the problem. If you take one puff or patch or piece of gum you are still addicted to Nicotine. Do it cold turkey and get it over with. I did it, you can do it.

You wean off the patches gradually. Some people have a lower tolerance for pain and need the help of the patches, gum, or whatever assistance works for them. Plus, I, for one, am completely unable to function when I try to quit smoking cold turkey. I don't have three days to be like that.
There is no magic fix. Willpower and resolve is the only thing that will make one successful in quiting, but having a little help over the hump is not a bad thing. flowerforyou

I used the patch it helped but I still got cravings. At first I tried cold turkey and only made it about half a day. the patch made the cravings less intense and it seemed like they didn't last as long. Best of luck it's worth the effort. flowerforyou
