Hmmm marry somebody that you don't know, or don't love. Yea I agree nothing good can ever come of it. im talking about indians, many of them have arranged marriages. there parents pick a women/man for them and they get married. Well if you're talking about the parents arranging them, nobody knows you better than your parents, if they raised you right... although here, it probably wouldn't be such a hot idea given how most parents raise their kids these days... i disagree to a point, i posted above |

on arranged marriages?? It is a cultural stuff and although it will never work for me , so many people around the world still have it like in : India , Pakistan . some parts of Africa .....etc . Some people do it for religious reasons as well . Very complicated stuff that led millions to happiness together . No wonder , life is a complex thing to start with . |

on arranged marriages?? They seem to have a better success rate than the ones that aren't. Who knows though. I'm a fan of whatever works. BUT some couples are together for 10 years and they get married and end up divorcing a few years later. so what are the chnaces of a arranged marriage working when they dont know our love that person. i dont think its your parents rights to pick who you should marry, its your life, and youve got to live your life with this person, so you should be able to pick who you want to marry. I'm sorry.. I thought you were asking for people's opinions? Sorry I said anything. |

do you want to arrange some marriages for ya

I personally see nothing wrong with them. While I wouldn't do it personally, there's something to be said for a cultural/religious practice that produces marriages that "stick", for lack of a better term. Divorce rates for arranged marriages are SIGNIFICANTLY lower than the divorce rate in, say, the U.S.

i worked for this lovely dentist, and he had to have a relationship with her, behind his parents back. because indians marry someone in the same level as profession as you. has he was a doctor, he would have had to get married to a doctor or someone on the same scale. i really felt for this man, because he loved this girl to bits, and his parents were arranging him a marriage he didnt want. plus she was white.

gawd forbid!!!!! if my mother was to pick someone for me he would be a total nerd and boring probabaly would not like to have sex either My Mom would probably pick someone out that would be on me all the time to sit up straight and not to put my elbows on the table....by the way, Im not a nerd and I love sex. Just cant seem to find the right lady to have it with long term, hehe. |

If two people agree to the arrangement then I see no problem with it. However if they do not then they should have the right to choose.
Have you ever seen the movie Coming To America with Eddie Murphy? |
