My mom just doesn't get it, she constantly plays the lottery, never even caring how much a scam it is. It sucks your wallet dry with a win once in a blue moon. I tell her, my grandma tells her, but she doesn't care, she just keeps playing. I'm so fed up with it.....   Do you pay your mom's bills? IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS WHAT SHE DOES WITH HER MONEY. I play the lottery. But not my life savings. And a true gambler/ gamer realizes their wins to losses ratio. Mine is at $247,000 dollars (wins) to $8900 dollars (losses) since 1997.

Thing is, I know the gambling is a way for her to escape the real problems she has, to not deal with them. I'm not gonna go into specifics so don't ask, but I feel it's a sign of underlying issues and she uses the gambling as a crutch. |

If she can afford it and enjoys it, it is not a big deal. My folks couldn't afford it, they had over $50,000 in credit card debt and I was supporting them, except for the credit card bills, I refused to pay them. So I do understand heartburn when people who can't afford it burn money on lottery tickets.
But that is my issue. If she can afford it, just let her have fun. If it is driving her into debt and she can't pay her bills, then it is an issue. My 2 cents, anyways. |
