CHANDLER - A Chandler man is speaking out to 3TV after police wrongly pinpointed him as a sex offender. The real offender used the man's address near Alma School and Pecos to register with authorities. Now the Chandler homeowner says he is fighting back. Chad Tow says the whole thing has been embarrassing and humiliating. He is now demanding $200,000 from the City of Chandler to make up for the mix-up. The saga started several months ago. Chad Tow found a note from Chandler Police on his door addressed to Kurt Hamady, a convicted sex offender. Chad knows the man but he has never lived in Chad's house. He says he thought nothing of the police note. Nevertheless, Hamady was using Chad, or at least his home, and listing it as his address on the sex offender registry. Flyers went out to the entire neighborhood. Since Chad and Hamady have similar features, Chad says many neighbors thought he was the sex offender. He says it took Chandler Police more than two weeks to send a correction flyer around clearing Chad's name. Now he says it is too little too late. There was no response from the City of Chandler Thursday evening. Cities typically do not comment on cases being handled by their attorneys. As for the $200,000 Chad Tow is demanding from the city, he says if they cannot settle out of court he will file a defamation lawsuit. http://www.fox11az.com/news/topstories/stories/chandler-20080620-wrong-sex-offender.21da8aa1.html |

*Whine, moan, groan* They sent out flyers addressing the error. He ignored a message from them, rather than looking into it. He show stop being a baby and grow up. He's as much as fault as they are, and they actually acted to correct the problem. A lawsuit for that is as dumb as the one against McDonalds based on coffee being hot was, or the one where someone broke in through a skylight in someone else's house and sued because they fell on a knife rack and got stabbed. Sadly, based on the success of the other two, it has a chance of winning.
