I've been baited and badgered and called a few names
They've been trying to pull me to their stupid games
They have questioned my motives, my means, and my rights
They have tried to make fun of how I spend my nights

But I'm holding on fast and I'm holding on firm
No matter how much they want to see me squirm
I am not going to give them the outburst they seek
I am better than that; I can even be meek

They did it before, I admit it, they won
But the power they had over me is now done
I have learned to just listen, and laugh deep inside
And their arrows, their venom, I have learned to abide

I am not going anywhere, if I have my way
I just have to watch every word that I say
They can say what they want and try to raise my ire
They can call me a snob, or a jerk, or a liar

I just look right back and regard what I see
Someone who's not worth attention from me
I consider the source and keep quiet this time
And I'll answer them safely, inside of a rhyme
