Topic: Why do women not make first contct ??

From another thread a lot of women said "I don't make first contact." Maybe I'm missing something or I am not old fashioned but what is wrong with a women contacting a guy on here??????

Some do some don't. sometimes they do sometimes they don't. If you want her, get her. If she wants you she'll let you know.

Guess it depends on the woman. I have made the first contact at times and other times men have contacted me. I don't see anything wrong with the woman making the first contact.

I do both. I dont mind on a guy contacting me as long as he respects that I wont talk about certain things with him. I much more appreciate a man who doesnt even try to anyway. As well, I contact some men just to say hi, nice profile or nice pics. I love talking to people

I think that they are chicken. And, they fear rejection worse than men, just a bit of insecurity on their part.Besides, if they made first contact to ppl they were interested in, the interest might be returned, they might start a relationship that leads somewhere, then they would not be on a singles sight, and that thought terrifies them sprints for exit covering head, avoiding flying objects .

I usually make the first contact when I talk to people...however, they don't always respond... Someone has to speak first or you will never meet anyone!

When I first joined the site I sent out a bunch of emails to anyone whose profile made me laugh or intrigued me or I thought was especially well-written ... they weren't necessarily people I was hoping to form a relationship with, but I appreciate when people put a lot of thought and effort into describing themselves and wanted to pass on a kind word, etc. A male friend looked at me like I was out of my mind and asked 'WHY ARE YOU TRYING SO HARD?' shrug Since I've listed I'm looking to make friends, I didn't think it was a big deal - but I got the distinct impression from his reaction that men thought women who made the first 'effort' were desperate or pushy -- neither of which I am, nor wanted to be perceived as being. Kinda made me shy off from putting myself out there, even as a friend.
