i broke away from the thundering ranks of our army
just another soldier fighting just another war
having no real direction i followed a trail

and the world seem to sing to me
with each step of my horse through the grass
what i could not see far off in the distance
was clear as a stream in winter when it became past

and the sunlight that filtered through the trees
danced about and took the form of your face
i was not sure if i was dreaming

the wound in my side from my battles
robbed me of whatever strength that remained
till i fell to where i would lay one last time
