She made it through another day
There were smiles even laughter...
That took awhile to come back
She misses him dearly
Out of nowhere
His voice sometimes interrupts her thoughts
“Last night I dreamed this was all over with
I told you the Army was in my past,
Christ I can't wait until that day is here,
Baby you'll never know how much I love you”
Those were his final words to her
At times they're her greatest comfort
Then there are those nights
That's all she hears
Suddenly her hearts in a vice
For a moment the air is too thick to breathe
The tiny bedroom is blurred
By a stream of tears
With nothing but the ears of a quiet summer night
She lets every emotion come
In a shattered voice
The heart speaks for her....
