I weas reading a topic and i see this all the time. People will ask about the LDR
Who here has found somone in there same area, well should put it as how many have? Very few! so my question would be to anyone that wants to answer it. Why bother looking if your not ready to make that change? Yeah yeah, i know some are her for friends and some are her to have fun etc etc, but lets get real here for a moment. Is it fair to expect the other to have to make the effort if your not willing to meet half way? |

I guess I'll cross that bridge if I ever get to it. Don't really think about it.

I met my guy on here, and yes we do live in what would be considered the same area....I'm not sure about others, but I just made friends until he found me..... |

The reasn i posted this is because i noticed alot of people will say they don't mind having a LDR but they dont want to make the effort to meet half why. So how can they expect the other to even want to meet?

I was involved in an LDR with someone in Colorado. The relationship didnt't last, but it was not because of the LDR aspect! (trust me on that one)
I am not here looking for a relationship, per se, but I have friends all over the world and love to see other areas of the country. However, if 'the one' happened to come across my path some day, I don't believe distance being a hinderance to it, if possible...as long as it's not forever. They are tuff, cause I am a physical touchy cuddly person and emails, telephone, etc can only go so far if you can only get together every other weekend, etc. |

I wouldn't want to leave beautiful Arizona, but if I met "the one" and she lived across the country I'm not going to give up happiness just to live in a particular place. If she couldn't move then I would. Of course, finding out if they are "the one" becomes increasingly difficult in direct proportion to the distances involved, so I think I have a much better chance of nurturing a relationship to that point if the person lives within at most a 3-4 hour drive for me. Just the realities of an LDR for me.

But no one will answer my question Why if anyone that feels this way would you expect anyone to make the effort if your not willing to meet half way. |

I didn't start out wanting a LDR. And it is really hard. Roller Coaster hard....but, If you are drawn to that person...there isn't much you can do except hope for the best.

As long as it is economically viable for me I'm willing to go the entire distance. If it weren't and we both wanted to keep seeing eachother then I would hope she would be willing to meet half way if she could afford it. If not, then that would pretty much be an indication the relationship isn't as special to her as it is to me. With gas going for over $4 a gallon that scenario semes more and more likely unfortunately. JMHO |
