Okay so now I have this covered right? My mother has never had the best of judgment, but I love her - she's my mother right. So she calls me and after the regular bs, she asks, so when are you going to get married? noway Speachless for a second, I say, my divorce isn't final, then she says I don't want to be an "old maid". Can I just say WTF? When did 23 become an old maid?

Is anyone elses mother an idiot too?

It was just a shock to hear her say that. Once I got off the phone I couldn't help but laugh laugh laugh at my mom's foolishness.

Then she probably shouldn't have asked the last guy I went out with if he was planning on marriage before the first date.

I love my parents. Spent 40 years trying to get away from them. Moved a kazillion miles away. Settled down. Living comfortably. Then they retired and moved next to me. Sheesh! I give up.

I had a discussion with my mom a day or two ago about my apparent "homosexuality", being that I'm 35 and not married or even "bangin' some chicks" (to quote my rather loutish, womanizing, Bill-Clinton-could-get-some-pointers-from-him dad).

This was news to me, as-

- I don't recall proclaiming to the world that I had turned gay,

which would be because...

- I'm NOT gay to begin with. In fact, I'm a fully-assured, card-carrying lifetime member of the skirt-chaser's club. I likes tha' wimminz, pure and simple. I just don't go about being a total d-bag about it, as (some of) the ladies don't go for that crap.

My guess is that she's been watching too much of that "Tyra Banks Show" (which I would think is a low-budget version of "Oprah" but with sleazier topics and stuff), which (according to her) is where she got her "over thirty and single?... he's a total turd-burglar" malarkey.

In fact, she would start herself off with, "But TYRA says..." every time she tried to impress me with her failed logic. And most of that was nothing more than the scripted regurgitations of a washed-up supermodel turned trash-TV-talk show host, too- it was almost like talking to a devout Scientologist or something.

I woulda been thoroughly pissed if the whole thing wasn't so damned funny. laugh
