try getting gold hoops that lock into each other so it's a smooth gold ring and putting antibiotic ointment on it daily after you wash them with soapy water. The ointment will kill the bacteria without drying out the skin

Wow, I just got my daughter's ears pierced last week for her birthday. Wonder what kind of mother that makes me?

Anyway, I got my ears pierced 30 years ago and they gave me the cleaning solution, but after I ran out of that I used rubbing alcohol or peroxide and it didn't bother them. But when my daughter got hers pierced they said not use either one of those, so I don't know. I'm assuming, and I could be wrong, that the people that do the piercing told us not to use that for a reason and that they should know what they are talking about, but I don't know what that reason could be since it never bothered my ears.

when i got my piercing they told me to use antibacterial soap and warm water and it seems to have worked well. for my ears i just put alchohol on the hoops and spun them through the hole and they healed fine. I guess it's 6 of one half a dozen of the other between the two.

My girls all used alcohol.. it doesnt really burn because the hole is so tiny..

Im a licensed Cosmeotologist and do ear piercings as well. Do not use peroxide. It eats the metal up. You can use Seabreeze or an astringent. The Witch Hazel is ok. Clean the ears daily with it if they start to get red. If you can take the earrings out for about 10 min to allow the astringent to dry. Peroxide is ok if the ears are already infected but take out the earrings first. Let the ears dry for a few minutes and replace them.
