When referring to the devil (satan) that is the name used. But there are too many references to other gods for it to be ignored.

Daniel 2:11
What the king asks is too difficult. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among men."

Another reference to a multitude of gods. Again those who wrote the bible recognize that there are other gods. Along with what was quoted earlier:

Exodus 18:11
Now I know that the LORD is greater than all the gods; for in the very thing in which they behaved proudly, He was above them.�

That would make the Hebrew god the greater of this assembly of gods. Thus my earlier reference to him being as Zeus and Odin a leader among the Hebrew gods.

This has nothing to do with whether I believe in the bible or not. It has to do with what is actually written in it. With the fact that those who wrote it recognized the existence of other gods and placed the Hebrew god above the others.

When God said worship no other gods...He said what he meant and meant what he said. Man chose to worship false idols and others gods, this is a big no no to God. And even though God is of Love he is also a jealous God......I think it would behoove many people to understand and study before making claims of truths.

Now I would be more then happy to take each scripture and break it down, and study it with you....your choice. But with the first scripture you were referring to with Jacob.....Jacob spoke to the Lord and had a relationship with God, thus it was Laban who was worshiping false idols, which was what Rachel was hiding.

The problem with this is that it doesn't state that they are 'false gods' or 'man made gods' or that man shouldn't worship other gods because they are 'made up' and don't exist. It does however mention that there are other gods.

Again, if there are no other gods then why be jealous of worship given another?

Too often have I seen, been told, that all that is in the Bible is 'the absolute truth because it is the word of god'. If such is the case then it is also true that the other gods so often mentioned also exist.

Again I put forward that according to what s written in the Bible the Hebrew god is leader among this assembly of gods.

Just reread Genesis 31:1-55 and no where did it state that the gods of Laban were false gods.
