At Borders for coffee, and have a appointment for later, limit to one hour.
If its good, set up a real date.
If you get bad mojo vibes, go to the other "appointment"

I want to know with the world we all live in, how do you trust someone you met online enough to meet them? There are a lot of crazy people that are only out to hurt people.

i say... trust until they give you a reason not too... got to think positively in the world we live in today...

but do take your time till you feel a certain sense of comfort or what not till you decide to meet

If you have a fast Internet connection, you can download a program called Skype. It will allow you to phone them up via the computer for free and you can see each other and hear each other as if you are in the same room. Its awesome.

I do not trust them...I will only meet them at the batting cages with my Louisville slugger in my tight little grip. Ha! noway

There are two snipers hidden in he bushes by the mini golf course too.

You have to remember they are wondering the same thing.

Wish I could find someone that wants to meet me in person....

All kidding aside though....If it's a local person, I'd suggest lunch in a place that you know well. If it's someone from out of town, meet in a neutral place, have some coffee maybe, let him check into a hotel and hook back up the next day.
Background check is a really good idea and probably worth the cost.

oh wait .. didn't read the whole thing .. enough to meet them?

you don't .. you just meet in public and put in safety measures.

I've met scores of people from online in person .. no biggie .. just be smart about it

meet in a public place with a friend present
the first couple times. no reasonable person
would object to that.

I am a newbie, very new to online anything other than work. Someone that's only viewed my profile & keeps asking to meet, makes me nervous. Then there are others that want to meet after e-mailing, but it's always a drive for someone. I'm not good w/relationships in many ways & have definite trust issues.
