a horrible person if i gave up custody of my son and went back into the military? I think it might be better for him and his mother if i was just out of the picture. If he still wanted to be a part of my life when he was older that would be fine but right now i'm not sure

Never give up custody of a child.Way to many out there that need loving parents.

If he still wanted to be a part of my life when he was older that would be fine but right now i'm not sure I'm sure this situation is complicated and intense (as most are at some point in time), but my feeling is that kids need anything and everything both parents can offer them ... maybe right now you feel like what you have to give is inadequate - but children are so forgiving and accepting and resilient. Feelings of abandonment are so much more difficult for a child to overcome than shortcomings -- so please don't underestimate yourself and your worth in your child's eyes, okay?
