Topic: ? for Mac users | |
---|---|
I have heard conflicting opinions on whether or not anti-virus is needed for a Mac. I just purchased one a few months ago and have had zero issues with it but I don't want to tempt fate either. Can someone point me in the right direction. I was also hoping someone might be able to help me out with whether there is a disk utility (or clean-up) built in (on a PC it would be under system tools--disk clean up) something like that.
Thank you for any help you might be able to provide. -Drew |

It's my understanding that you don't need anti virus for macs...

I will check into the system tools, disk clean up but I don't think you need one a mac. Of course there is a way to remove old files but not like on a PC...
If I were you, I would take the anti virus back you still need a firewall tho of course |

Better to have one just to be safe. Just stay away from Norton (resource hog). I'm not a MAC user, but I know there have been a very few virus' written for MAC. Not nearly at as much risk as PC, still better to be safe, firewall too;^]

Apple also has a built in program called Time Machine which allows me to do a daily back-up of everything on an external HD--which I have and which is PC/Mac compatible. Now I need to find out if I need to do a disk clean-up. Thank you everyone for the links and the suggestions. I appreciate it. |
