I was tuning my guitar today and the first string popped the white knob that holds the string came out a little bit, I pushed it back in. It doesn't seem that anything broke, but does that sound normal or ok?

I've never had a guitat before, and I don't know if you can break it by over tuning it or anything.

I learned the hard way on my acoustic guitar that if it's left alone for awhile, like months, loosen the strings as it warped the neck.
As for the peg hole, it may need regluing if it was stripped when the string popped.

the adage the if it moves and ain't supposed to...duct tape. If it don't move and should...wd-40 does not apply to guitars.

as for your question...on some guitbaxes, the string tension holds the tuning shaft in, put a new string on and tune it and should be ok

See... I was learning how to tune it when it happened. I just got it yesterday, and I'm trying to learn it on my own.
