But how much practice does it take to say "I'm bored"....? 
The idea is to remove the boredom factor as much as possible from this site. The more people we have talking, the more new ideas and points of view get heard. Have you ever noticed how sometimes we can go for a long time just hashing out the same 5 or 6 threads to death because nobody is starting any new ones? More people + more threads = less boredom hopefully.
