It really comes out of the crisis intervention book, which is part of my criminal justice major.

Took me a minute to find this in the quotes.laugh

Crisis with marijuana can happen if the user suffer's schizophrenia or some other kind of serious psychological illness, however out of 10 relatively healthy individuals using marijuana perhaps one will have substantial health affects later on down the road.
I'm sorry I put it in the quotes. If you will give me a few minutes I will go and get it and type it for you if you are really interested in what it has to say. Thanks.

I am actually if you don't mind.flowerforyou
The main active ingredient in both marijuana and hashish is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a mild hallucinogen. Smoking large amounts of pot or hash can cause distirtions in auditory and visual perception, even producing hallucinatory effects. Small doses produce an early excitement ("high") that gives way to drowsiness. Pot use is also related to decreased activity, overestimation of time and space, and increased food consumption. (No wonder I can't keep my significant other fed). When the user is alone, it can produce a dreamy state. In a group, users become giddy and lose perspective. Marijuana is not physically addicting, but its long-term affects have been subject of much debate. During the 1970s, it was reported that smoking pot caused a variety of physical and mental problems, including brain damage and mental illness. Although the dangers of pot and hash may have been overstated, use of these drugs does present some health risks, including an increased risk of lung cancer, chronic bronchitis, and other diseases. Marijuana smoking should be avoided by prospective parents becuase it lowers sperm count in male users, and females experience dirupted ovulation and a greater chance of miscarriage.

There, sorry it took so long. Slow typer. flowerforyou

A lot of that is true, the sexual sideaffects are debateable however as there is no substantial proof that marijuana causes decrease in sperm counts or women have disrupted ovulation or miscarriage. For the most part though that is true. Thank you for sharing, sorry if it was a bother to type.flowerforyou
Your welcome, but I can't give you any proof from my daughter's doctor and what he said about it. All I can give you is my word. I do believe it affects the lungs. Before she was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, he would come in with the smell on him and get close to her and she would have coughing fits. flowerforyou It was no bother. flowerforyou

I already know of the proof as far as lung disorders go, so I won't argue that as it is true. However my standpoint was from a healthy individual with no known illness (mental or physical), should of probably clarified that. I hope the best for your daughter.flowerforyou
Thanks. I haven't heard of anyone that is healthy of ever developing lung cancer from it either. I was just going by what I learned from my books. Thank you so much kind sir. flowerforyou

Chances are very good, I'm afraid. I've known quite a few people who have become disabled due to Cannabis addiction.

It is hardest for the partners, children, and other family members of the addicted. So sad that those that abuse are not aware of (or do not really care about) the terrible pain and suffering they cause those that love them and care about them, those that rely on them. Almost on a daily basis. It brings such heart-ache and loss, such devastation, in every way imaginable.

For some only learn the hard way, you never realize what you had till you have lost it.

Books are good for learning the basics, I've done extensive research on marijuana from medical professionals out of the UK and parts of Canada. Sad to hear of your daughter, I don't believe you should smoke marijuana after you have a child...kind of an odd moral code I suppose, but again best of wishes to you and your daughter.flowerforyou

Yes, books are good to read and learn from. Since I have been in college I am just learning alot and doing alot of researching myself. Learning about drugs is one of them. I've been trying for 10 years now to get him to stop. He doesn't smoke it around her, but he comes in with it smelling on him and I have to run him back out. You are correct, a person should not smoke it after having kids. Thank you so much. flowerforyou

Much of it today is laced and the pot you are smoking today ISN'T the same thing our parents and/or older siblings knew as marijuana in the 60s and 70s. It is at least 10x stronger.

now wait a hot second fearandloathing. odd moral code? c-mon man it's not crack! It's weed that would be like saying people should share a bottle of wine after they put their kids to sleep for the night. Now I'm not saying that people should break out a water bong or even have it in the home (if it's illegal where your at) But a moral code has nothing to do with smoking a joint after you have kids.laugh In fact I bet it might keep some kids from being physically abused. I have never heard someone got mellow and beat the sh.t out of their kids. JMO peace and love are more the theme.

Good. Then get me some worms and let's go fishing. Do I need to tie a rope to you to keep you from falling in the water? And when you get a fish on your pole, it is only one and not two. bigsmile
