Last summer some x-rays found a calcium deposit near my armpit. The surgeon said if it grew any that it would have to come out. I can't really feel it by touch but once in a while after I wake up there is a little ache. Wouldn't ya know it, now I don't have the insurance I did then.

So my question is: What if that goes untreated?

more than likely it will just be painful or your body will have too much calcium and that could also be a bad thing.

it would build up and make a bruise there as well give you discomfort!!!

Calcium deposits will not kill you, but the pain will make you wish it will. If the pain is unbearable then it’s high time that you see a doctor and ask for an effective cure. An arthroscopic surgery can be done to remove the deposits. Also oral medications can be given.

Best of luck!flowerforyou

Jonny, I think when it gets inflammed, it may need antibiotics. But..it may also need another course of treatment.

Ok Jonny since the X-ray do u think it has grown any? The pain u are feeling would sugests that it has,or that it may be inflammed..
If "Yes" you may have to get it removed especially if it causes you some discomfort..
I am not certain that it will cause any other problems if it is left untreated, but I would say no.

They were concerned since it was so close to the lymth nodes (Spelling?) that it might be a cancer so they did every test there was and it all checked out fine.

I kind of figured it mostly would just be uncomfortable. Sooner or later i'll get the insurance and get it taken out.

Anti inflammatories for now, maybe try some range of motion exercises and i agree with ella a shoulder scope to go in and clean it out.

well since you know that it is a simply calcium deposit you have the choice to bare through the pain and discomfort by taking pain relievers and trying not to over do activity on that area.... once the pain in unbearable however you need it to be removed no other choice really.

prior shoulder injury?

irad

if you have a chest xray for example, does a doctor review it or the radiographer? or if the radiographer picks up on something wrong, then is it passed along to a doctor??

radiologists read the films debbie, its a no no to tell the patient anything as far as the xray techs go.

No prior injury but if it makes any differance I have worked a paint gun for nearly 28 years with that arm.

Debbie, they took blood about 10 times from me for tests I would think they would have said something if to much calcium.
