Taurine is a sulfur amino acid which cannot form peptide bonds with other amino acids and exists in mammals as a free compound. Taurine plays a significant role in many physiological processes like osmotic pressure regulation, neurotransmission, protection of cells against free radicals, brain and retina development, reproduction and cardiac muscle metabolism.

Well, the Doc's told me to quit smoking and stop drinking so much coffee. I slowed may down on the coffee, 1/2 caff. and then decaff. So about 2yrs later I am sitting at the desk and I can hardly stay awake because I am having so many palpatations, not enough blood getting to the brain. I said F**k this. I went I got a 20 oz coffee and a smoke and I felt better pretty quickly. They just kinda went away. I still drink too much coffee and I still smoke, I have occasional palps once in a while, but nothing like before.

im just trying to help. red bull is a caffine drink that wakes you up, and it contains taurine. ive got other energy drinks and they ALL contain taurine, therefore its a stimulnat. and stimulants can cause palpatations

To assume it's a stimulant simply BECAUSE it's in an energy drink is just sillylaugh

Mostly what I read was that for a number of people, they are harmless. I had a stress EKG and it was fine, they did cardiac enzymes and it was all good. But yeah it freaked me out for a long time.
