Okay I get what you are saying. It took me awhile. I hear of great job opportunities in Texas where the company's will actually pay for flight and moving expenses. The job market is booming out there and if you work around oil rigs and such, you can make like 6 figs a year. Plus for cars, you just need a cat in it. So you can modify them all you want. And are cooler out there. Here, you get a semi decent chick and she has an ego the size of the grand canyon.

I'm in Fresno. About 2 hrs north of you. So yeah I hate the fugging dustbowl too. At least I can drive to the mountains in a couple of hours though. Can't leave though. tried once and couldnt stand not being with my family.

North-Eastern San Fernando Valley, here. I've been to Bakersfield a couple of times, though (got a friend who lives there and stuff).

Bakersfield isn't all that bad, actually- the only problem area I could find was the "old town" section of town, which was just chocked full of run-down buildings, tattoo parlors, and run-down pawn shops. But once you start getting closer to the 99 or 5 Freeways, things will start to look up.

They don't call it "The Town That Buck Owens Built" for nothing, you know?
