If you have msn and someone else has Yahoo ,can you communicate with one another on Cam ?. I have msn and I can not be connected to someone who has Yahoo . Thanks in advance .

You have to use the same service. Yahoo to yahoo, MSN to MSN. They aren't hard to load...

Getting MSN and Yahoo to talk is like getting a Republican and a Democrat to see eye to eye...

Windows live messenger will work. doesnt matter what you have.

As the other members above have stated, you need to be on the same protocol in order to communicate via IM (Yahoo-to-Yahoo, MSN-to-MSN, Google Talk-to-Google Talk, Skype-to-Skype, etc.).

However, there ARE some alternatives-

One is Meebo, which is a web-based multiple IM client. This means that NOT ONLY can you access all the different IM protocols in one webpage, but you can also use Meebo's OWN chat rooms as well. The service is free and is fairly reliable.

Google is also trying to start up an IM client thingy that is supposed to allow IMs from differing services, too. A couple of services have decided NOT to go along with the plan though, so be forewarned.
