My mom started it, called me horrid names starting when I was little, so I had no self esteem in school. Tried to be invisible but grew very tall very fast, was the tallest kid in the class, boys and girls until about 10th grade, and carried extra weight too, so was harassed daily and brutally. I spent my elementary and part of much of my middle school years going to bed praying I wouldn't wake up. Then I would think of my grandpa and realize he loved me and I had to wake up, if it weren't for him, I would not have survived, I would have taken the "easy" way out.

In HS, I was the 'little guy's' advocate. Never popular, but everyone wanted to be my friend. In grade school, there were two boys who used to chase me around the playground - all in fun, I suppose. They could never catch more than a ponytail, when they caught anything at all. One day, I was tired of getting my hair pulled. I chased one up to the top of the swingset, then sat at the bottom until he started crying. After that, no one chased me. It was kinda lonely. |
