It's easy to love one self...that doesn't mean you are a good person in any means.. I have known many a people who love them selves and are such bad people! The only thing you can do is try to be honest with yourself, if you are living your life not hurting others, doing whatever job you do to make a living then you don't need for anyone to tell you your loved because you will know in your heart that you are.

True, but if ones folks dont or cant show love while their young ones are growing up,then how do those young ones really know anyhting about being loved from the beginning? They hae to be shown love from a toddlers stage.

They don't, even when shown love later in life, they don't see it...

Well, it becomes very difficult for them, they must choose to try hard in order to see love.

If it stems from childhood, then some people may never feel they can be loved, or are worthy of love. You can't love someone if they won't let you.
Loving yourself, (not narcissism) is like self respect. It's needed to keep one's life in balance.

You hit the nail on the head, this is what I went thorugh as a child.
I was very much verbally abused by my Dad,he would get his face in my face and tel me I would never be loved by anyone and that he was ashamed that I was ever his sin, then he would repeatedly spit in my face and walk away.

I am sure it is a difficult process, but you are an adult now.
And although your dad told you this (maybe because of his upbringing) the cycle can end with you.
As long as there is life, there is room for change and growth.

Sounds so very familiar.... myself and my 2 brothers. I built up a wall around my emotions that took years to tear down as an adult, but I never stopped loving myself or others. I was the lucky one. My brothers are both lost causes. They love themselves ever so much, but don't have the capacity to be able to show real love for others. They think they do, but.... I really feel sorry for them (and my neices and nephews especially). ....And the circle of mental abuse continues....

They just have to come to terms with the fact that their worth cannot be weighed by any other than themselves.

Once you realize your worth, it's easy to love yourself.

Not to steal your thunder. Abuse is never your fault. You seem intelligent enough to figure that out
What I've learned in my short life, forgiveness is what matters. I was so angey at who I was mad at for so long. That ended up nowhere.
Nothing lasts forever. I've said this before but it's true. Embrace yourself. You're the only one that can will yourself foward.
