Is this a contradiction? If Holy books, whatever religion they belong to, were written by human beings who lived within a historical context, with political, social and personal factors that shaped their view of things, can they still be considered the word of God? Especially taking into account that, at least in some cases, they have been written by different people, in different periods, and subject to numerous modifications. How do you view holy books, more as a human creation or or as the word of God? If the latter, why?

I view them as flawed, but viable texts for guidance and spiritually historical education...

Of course, this probably means someone is now readying to burn me at the stake. laugh

I think all good things are of value but should not distract from the "Word of God." I only quoted it because some don't believe I do, though I think some translation was lost.

I believe at it basic root it is the word of God however the human input has twisted it to a large degree.

the term "god inspired" is really a deceptive term to make others think that god spoke to the author or had a hand in the works ...but really it was the author beliefs in a god that inspired the works of the author

anyone can be inspired to do something but that doesn't mean what inspired them to do that something had anything to do with that something beyond that inspiration
