(1)Call the cops and go over to warn him, beatdown optional. (2)Call the cops and go beat him senseless without warning. (3)Don't call the cops and the bastard disappears, then help the family onto their own feet.

Would and HAVE!!!! and I would let them know that I am the one who called also... I have been through 2 womens deaths, residents of mine, that were killed by their husband, and boyfriend, and I will not stand by and allow anyone get hit, Woman, Child, etc... One of the women, I actually found in her apt. and I will never forget this day as long as I live, she opened the door in a long sleeved green shirt, her eye was bulging out and bleeding and she had bowel all over her from the end of the shirt to her feet. All she kept saying was, Lisa please help me... I stayed calm, and got my cell phone out of my pocket and called a co-worker, who at the time was the lead Detective of the police dept, and as I was walking in the apt with her, I was telling him what I was seeing and what she was saying. He told me, Lisa start asking her ?s, who did this, where does he live, etc.... My resident sat on the mattress which was on the floor in her bedroom, bowel was everywhere as well as blood, and her apt. was in shambles, and I was trying to still get information out of her while trying to console her, while all this time, which seemed like forever, actaully only took a few minutes, I was dying inside watching this, the police and paramedics walked in, and my coworker, the detective, said to me, "Good job Lisa, you just took down her dying declaration." At that time I did not know what he meant, then as I was leaving the apt. after she had been taken away in the ambulance, he pulled up beside my truck in the parking lot, and he explained to me what I had done for this lady, also he told me that she had been raped and sodamized (maybe spelled wrong) that is what the bowel was from. If it had not been for me, she would have died in that apt. and noone would have never known who or what did this to her, but to my surprise, as I was asking her the ?s as he was instructing me to do so from my cell, the police had him (her exboyfriend to be exact) picked up by the time she was taken away in the ambulance, she died 3 days later, after being brain dead after 2 surgeries and he is in prison for murder as I type this to you. It took me 2 years to remove her write up from the newspaper from my nightstand beside my bed, as well as counseling. I have never went through anything like that in my life, and will do whatever it takes to help someone that I see is being abused!!!

Sorry so long, just wanted to share with you all...flowerforyou

I grew up in a family that was violent at times. Getting involved only results in more people being added to the violence. There's no need to put yourself in the situation because you are only going to cause MORE trouble for everyone involved, and now you're included in that list. If you have a family with you, you're also putting THEM at risk by getting involved. It's best to call the authorities and let them deal with it. flowerforyou

That's probably true, rob.. I suppose I should've specified that my comment was aimed more toward women.. although I don't personally know too many guys that can take down someone amped with adrenaline.

I remember distinctly an Ad Council commercial about neighbors hearing domestic abuse go down and not taking any action. I also remember my step-dad cracking jokes about it. Hm. Anyway, all I have to say is it depends on so many factors, the question of whether or not to take it into your hands. I would have to see what went down, and deal w/ the situation accordingly. <--Duh?

Personally, I was in a domestic altercation w/ my ex and my shoulder was injured and the wall was injured:angry:(And after a whole year I still haven't had it fixed) and when the cops came they seemed at first on my side and asked if I wanted to press charges. I said no because we had never done that kind of crap BEFORE, and he IS the father of my child! And then all of a sudden these two pigs are like, totally flippin' out saying he HAD to kung fu move me (yeah, it was a REAL kung fu move, I don't even care if that sounds ridiculous) it was 'SELFDEFENSE'. So, in conclusion, cops aren't always even sane enough to figure out what is going on. Also, they will never really help a regular/repeat victim until after they have been battered to death. I wish we could take the law into our own hands in obvious circumstanceshuh brokenheart
