ok I know this is weird but have any of you heard anything on the news about turkey or turkey meat??? My daughter was at school today and ate turkey pie which she eats turkey alot..she had a huge allergic reaction to it where her mouth and lips were swollen and numb and her face broke out in whelps and she couldnt feel her face or mouth... I had to rush and get her and have her treated ...has anyone heard of anything?? Thank you in advance

well if it is not the turkey it may be something in the spices used to cook it I know Paprika does that exact thing to some people (second serious posting ever)

Those pies have probably 20 different ingredients including who knows how many vegetables and vegetable by products. Then on top of it probably 10 different spices and colorings

wonder if there is any msg in it. that can cause major reactions.

and you can get allergy to things you've had before. I had that happen with penicillin for bronchitis once and I had taken it before. Broke out in hives.

Has she ever had any allergy testing?

I think all school food is loaded with MSG, my favorite was the school Pizza. All the grease pooled in the center

chances are it was an ingredient in the pie but allergies can develop at different times... You should have her tested for food allergies and others as well..

they can do the rast testing, the skin pricks for almost anything now. I worked for ENT's and we did it all of the time.

Good luck

Yeah. I had the skin-prick test done on me when I was a kid. While it did expose all of the things I had sensitivities to (I've thankfully grown out of most of them), the process of getting your entire back pricked repeatedly by not-quite-so-sharp needles is a rather dicey proposition.

But it HAS to be done if you're to find out about what is wrong with your daughter.
