Ok so I have AIM and it works at Ball State but now that I go home it Wont! It just says I tried to log in too many times! I tried plugging it in to ethernet but that doesnt work either! Anyone know how to fix it!?

Fricken AIM!!!

Try to completely shut down AIM first. Let it sit for a minute or two, then try to restart it. If that doesn't work, go into options, and disable auto-login if it's enabled. Restart your computer and try again. If that still doesn't work, Ball State may have a tech support line you can contact as a student, even though you're not on campus.

Sounds to me like you're still logged in to AIM at Ball State.

I'm guessing it should time-out at some point, but make sure when you're at school to log out and shut down whatever computer you're using there.

AIM doesn't really 'play well with others' so I'm not surprised you're having problems. Sorry.

The answer is simple- stop using AIM!

There are several other better alternatives to AIM, like Google Talk, Skype Chat, and Meebo. Yahoo IM is okay, if you don't mind getting spammed once-in-a-while, and MSN IM just plain sucks.

Meebo is cool NOT ONLY because it's online, AND it can log you in to all your IM protocols, but it also has its own chatroom thingy too.

You can also use Pidgin, which isn't an IM protocol per se but a multiple IM managing program (sorta like Meebo, but NOT online).
