Thanks much for the tea

I agree, I would have shot that car a long time ago, but hey, that is why I am paid to fix them.

Ford isn't all that bad, could be worse, it could be a honda

try replacing the transmission safety switch

I second this....93 Tempo & Escort were bad about failing. Check for voltage off the white wire coming from the Park/Neutral Position Switch. I bypassed mine.

but if I turn the key, and the starter clunks against the flywheel, the safety switch would not be faulty, otherwise the bendix wouldn't engage right?

True....Starter Relay or PCM? Not much else in the circuit that I can think of.

I isolated the whole circuit with new wires and used that clip on start switch to bypass the ignition key even, that is why I am scratching my head. I know that there are lemon batches of starters, but a whole bunch? I am about to start all over in the morning to see if I missed a simple thing. too bad it is not a clutch car, I would just tell her to push start it

Got it!!! Wooooooooo!

I put di-electric grease on the back of the solonoid on the fender, and vroom! I sanded down the paint, and greased it.

There ain't a car out there that could beat me, I may get stuck once in a while... Thanks again to all of you that have posted suggestions, it really helped me to clear my head and think about a solution.
