A "Christian" group is protesting Starbucks, because they have changed their logo into a two tailed mermaid. The president of this group (who was probably dropped on his head as a baby) described the mermaid as "a naked woman on it with her legs spread like a prostitute". The poor guy isn't bright enough to realize that women do not have scales on their legs and women have feet, not fins at the end of their legs. This is the kind of guy and organization that gives Christianity a bad name. We aren't all this guy and you could not possibly think he is more stupid than I believe him to be.

I just wanted to voice my protest of this incredibly stupid protest before any non-Christians had their say.

I am a non-Christian and an artist and I think its the ugliest logo on the planet and that it is in poor taste and it does look very fishy. (and slutty) ~~not to mention smelly.

It does not make me want their coffee at all. I can't see how it relates at all to coffee anyway.

It's a poorly drawn picture, and I like mermaids with one tail better.

But this is what will happen. (My prediction) They will announce plans to change the logo, and everyone will rush in to purchase the rejected logo cups to save as a collector's item and Starbucks will make a small fortune.

Such as life.laugh laugh laugh laugh

The Logo is based on a ancient viking wood carving. It's not something an artist of today came up with, it's hundreds of years old.

They are currently opening 7 stores / day worldwide. I think they are doing just fine, even with a "dumb" logo.

I work for Starbucks, and I can promise you it isn't meant to be offensive at all! It's a nod to our beginnings as that was our original logo at the Pike's Place Market location in Seattle. It's just an innocent mermaid or "siren". In my humble opinion... there isn't anything to be offended by in a mythical creature as a "mascot" of sorts.

I don't go to Starbucks, because I don't drink coffee or spend $5.00 on a drink. I see nothing wrong with the logo, I think it's nice to bring back a little Viking heritage.
