Because they didn't want to call them "kitty rolls", which is what they're made of.

Because the wrapping is made of a mixture of egg and flour, but since there is no yeast, it does not rise. It is rolled and wrapped around vegetables for the classic look that you always see.

Sounds tasty, but officially you couldn't call them egg rolls then. Call them cabbage rolls, or chicken rolls, or some such thing.

i disagree there can be beef,chicken,shrimp and even steak and potato eggrolls.i've even thought of breakfast eggrolls

Ahh...nice. Yes, they come in many forms. But if you eat them at a Chinese restaurant, be sure to look for the "kitty-free" sticker on the door. That's all I'm saying.

True, most don't - just look for the green kitty-free seal.
