I may be putting my computer into storage for a few months. I don't want to lose anything off of it. I had heard you have to keep it plugged in to keep the hard drive from having something happen to it. Is this true?

I don't think so, I had a laptop that was unplugged all the time and I never lost anything off it.

hard drive is non power stable

cmos battery may go bad but i doubt it in only a couple months

have multiple hard drives in usb enclosures that rarely see power work just fine when needed

nope, the only thing that hurts a hard disk is if the filters become saturated with moisture. keep it in a fairly dry place to prevent this from happening. for the most part, unless you are living in the rain forest nothing like this happens very often.
