I'm not sure what I thought about this movie. There were things I liked about and things I'm not so sure about. But I'll have to watch it again before I make my final verdict.

whats everyone else think

as a dylan fan, i liked it. though, watching it for the first time it did seem a bit confusing. nothing really meshed up. every character in the film were just bob dylan's alter ego. which was pretty innovative and cool. i like cate blanchetts role a lot. i also dig the fact that they decided on a female to play a male role. once agian...innovative. who would ever guess that she'd play dylan? as for the other actors portraying this folk/rock legend...uncanny. in the sense of character of course.

it is a very creative movie creative and confusing
iteresting and worth watching even if you not a dylan fan although it would help to be

im just not sure if it wouldn't been better if it went along the walk the line and ray vein

i guess theyll do that one when he dies

sure...there's bound to be more movies based on dylan. the world seems fascinated by him. well, did you like it....or were you just confused? i can see how being confused can alter your likes or dislikes of the film. just watch it and don't think too much of linking all the characters together. its like watching many different short films but only they're all meshed up.

cheers

plus its good to know a little history of dylan. i've seen both documentaries based on him, and it helps a lot. because the scenes in i'm not there are pretty much based on his life. i'm sure some parts of the film are made up. for instance, i don't think he ever gave up music to join a church (christian bale's character). and of course he's still alive...but blanchett overdoses at the end.

the documentaries are
- don't look back
- no direction home

yeah ive seen them
i dont think anyone can watch no direction home and not become a fan or if they already were twice as big of one

im not there was good i liked that they used a lot of his actual quotes

the bale part was based from the fact that he found god in the 80s and became a part of a some church or another

that seems right...bob dylan's direction on music was always changing. and in the late 70's to the 80's...he became more gospel. with his album slow train coming of course. i remember buying that album and hearing it for the first time. it sounded so different compared to his folk and rock and roll stuff. he was definitely preaching about something. have you heard his alternative band the traveling wilburys? great ensemble for that band. it consist of dylan, george harrison, roy orbison, jeff lynne and tom petty. awesome.

thats one of the coolest things about him he didnt give a damn what other ppl thought as far as his music was concerned
he wasnt going to conform to any ideas of what he should be or sound like for good or bad

ive heard a lil of them i remember they had a hit something about leaning on
