The Lucky Life, For me....

Every day I meet,
People on the street,
Who say, "Hey Buddy! Can you spare a dime?"
Or maybe a cigarette,
You know I'd almost bet,
That I can pick a smoker every time!

So I give em a little smile,
And I chat with them awhile,
I say, "Buddy, I ain't never had a dime."
I've got a cigar or two,
But I ain't got one for you,
To give away disease is such a crime!

Then I give em a little wink,
And I stop to let them think,
About the words that I so kindly said!
By the time they've come around,
I've skipped another town,
I've got a lot of towns that want me dead...

It's so hard to say goodbye,
When your feet are on the fly,
To leave every friend you ever knew, behind...
But maybe it's allright,
I can make it one more night!
If you yourself, could only be so kind?

But I guess I'll ramble thru,
since it's all the same to you,
I've got no-where to go, in a hurry!
I've tried to change my name,
But it always sounds the same,
A man that's full of cockyness, and worry...

Well I'll have a little cry,
Then I'll heave a little sigh,
And I'll hold myself tight, just like a friend...
Find my feet a little slow,
Carry myself till I can go,
And walk on down that lonely street again.
