My mother came from a family of 12. She lost her last sibling about an hour ago. Also one about a month ago. I am afraid she will get depressed and give up. What do I do to seek her striving on? Sorry this is so gloomy.

ohhhh thats terrible. Find her some hobbies. Maybe check out meetup.com to see if there's any groups in her area she might be interested in joining... flowerforyou

do whatever it takes to keep her active and busy. Is she involved with any kind of senior activites, church groups etc. If not or even if she is, get her more involved with them.

Gloomy is a part of life. Give her time to do her grief work. Don't try to fix anything because you can't. Just be there and listen, hug and let her know you love her. Grief is part of life whether we like it or not. Time helps a lot as does support from family and friends.

Try to emphasize that she is still needed here, for you, for family. Help her get involved more with the living. Of course, if she seriously becomes depressed, more than going through a LOT of grieving since there's been so much going on, seek professional help for her.
God bless you all! flowerforyou

My momn has lost all 6 of her siblings, and four of her children. She gets sad sometimes, but, she knows that the rest of us love her and she just "keeps on keeping on" She has the best attitude of any person I have ever seen. Just let your mom know that you love her and value her presence. flowerforyou

Give her lots of attention , be there when she needs you keep her busy but try not to let her wallow in self pity .

Thank you for the suggestions. She is active in church, not as much as she was when my dad was alive, he died 4 years ago, but she does do a little. I have taken her to Ireland but I can only afford to do so much.

Get her into grief therapy. Contact your local Hospice.

Can your mom stay with you for a while?

Tell your mother how important she is to you and that you are so sorry she lost two siblings and you thank God everyday that you have her. In other words, let her know she has to keep on with life, if not for herself but for you.
