When they create a special holiday for the Irish to drink and wear green and have parades in Boston, then I'll celebrate Cinco De Mayo.

When they create a special holiday for the Irish to drink and wear green and have parades in Boston, then I'll celebrate Cinco De Mayo. St. Louis has a huge downtown St. Pat's parade. It's an all day party. We also have a smaller parade in the Irish part of the city.

VJ Day is a state holiday in RI. There was no holiday in August, so there you go! There are online calanders that show all the holidays and celebration weeks.... I check those out sometimes. If nothing else, it is an educational thing for my son and I and I can share some and make some traditions. Arbor day we plant something, he climbs a tree and I take a picture. Zilla good to hear you are celebrating!

VJ Day is a state holiday in RI. There was no holiday in August, so there you go! There are online calanders that show all the holidays and celebration weeks.... I check those out sometimes. Lilith, you sound like a fun mom. I hope so! I try not to be boring. Mother's Day we have a tradition too, we tour the gardens and house of a mansion. He loves the indoor pool of the house. There is a butterfly greenhouse and afterwards we have a picnic lunch on the lawn outside. I got him a new outfit and toy to celebrate why I'm a mom, and he is all excited about the gift he is making for me in school. But I think Cinco de Mayo is especially fun for kids. No alcohol of course, but bright colors, food, new words to learn or use, and history.

I took a 15 minute siesta before the fiesta and we ate elote. Last year we went to the Japanese flower festival, civil war re-enactments and more. I'm already thinking about what to do for this spring and summer.

Ohhhhh that sounds like fun. I love flowers. My kiddo would love a re-enactment. I've always wanted to go to a Renaissance Fair. I like sparklers on the cake for the fourth of July, too.

Okay, more fun ideas - sparklers on the cake. I've been to a Renaissance Fair but haven't seen any around me lately. The re-enactments were great. The battles with horses and everyone dressed in period and doing period activities.

In Arizona we refer to this holiday as "CINCO de DRINKO"! There it is haha
