It could be due to we are too hard headed to listen to those in our lives that explain those things to us. Always thinking we can do it better or that they don't know what they are talking about.

why do people useualy have to learn things the hard way? well at least they know for sure! ...independent and pioneering spirit kinda kicks in and most people with any moxie at all want to experience the good and the bad, at least then they have a bases for judgement...eventually the hope is we learn from enough mistakes we make less.....
