Drowning in a sea of pain,
My composure I fight to regain.
My emotions holding me under,
The crash of waves, louder than thunder
Trying desperately to stay afloat.
Praying for strength, or a boat.
Constantly asking “why?”
Is it in this state that I will die?
In this sea of pain I continue to sink
Bringing my life to its brink.
To the heavens I begin to shout
“Please anyone, please help me out!”
My emotions continue to rage war
Than I begin to hear a dull roar.
I look up and see the sky begin to part
And all the burdens, are lifted from my heart.
A man standing there surrounded by light
Wow, what a beautiful sight.
He reaches down and grabs my hand.
Carrying me away to dry land.
Than he looked at me and said “I know you”
“and all the pain you have been through”
“For every struggle, whether heavy or slight”
“I Was preparing you for the upcoming fight”
“I know there are times you thought it was more than you could bear”
“But for everyone one of those times, I promise I was right there”
“I know your body has been beaten, and your heart torn”
“But it is not quite ready, for in the fight it needs to be battle worn”
“Just keep your eyes on me, and continue to swim with head held high”
“And remember all the blessing you will have, on the day you die”
And with those words he vanished from sight.
My burdens were now all very light.
The sea of pain now seemed easy to rise above.
Because I had experienced true love.
So now whenever I’m in pain and my hear is rattled
I know God is just preparing me for battle.
