Speaking of....

My friend's neighbor sold her house and upon leaving locked her 2 unwanted cats in the garage and left. I already have one cat. I've been trying to find one of them a home, but have also thought of taking one of them in. Not sure, I'm 50/50 on it right now.

A best friend is somebody (or in this case an animal) that needs you. So I'd have to say 'the pound'

pet? Somethin with a pure bloodline.... or just something from the pound?

I had a pet for almost twenty years. It was a short-haired mutt of a black cat. Nothing discernably special in its bloodline (other than the fact it had blood running through its veins).

It didn't even come from a hoity-toity breeder, either- it was given to the family by a family friend who had gotten the (then) kitten and immediately found they didn't get along. So she dropped it off with us, and we bonded instantly.

I wouldn't get a pure-breed to save my life.
