Topic: metaphor for purple tulips | |
---|---|
I planted a bulb in the ground last spring
A purple tulip And I have waited for the long months Through the snow and the invisible fire For a switch in the ground to be flipped And a bulb to light up But my bulb refuses to grow I have spilt my blood for this ground Dig deep Dig deep and you will find The missing artery that I am looking for And with my hands in the brown ground operating theater The real farmers with their life support machines Watch dissaprovingly and lean on their dull weapons Tsking me and think that to see someone care that much over something that small is downright obscene Purple tulip Why do you refuse to sprout by my hand? Purple tulip I planted you And all I ask for is the simple act of being But I never was any good at playing promethious The heat hidden under my shirt burns me before i can deliver it Purple tulip I know you were buried but i never intended it to be a funeral Purple tulip Im sorry Im sorry I stuck my hands in you and now the dirt is spewed everywhere I should never have interfered And now I have corrupted the memory of the flower that never was By writing about it HERE and pulling its corpse Out of the ground HERE I suppose some things Die When you pull them out into the open But now ill go back With destruction staining on my hands And see if i cant plant something else Perhaps some edible fruit Now I understand Beauty should never be a reason alone for wanting something to be |

there r 2 musical numbers in movies which inspired this poem which i feel i should name I didnt plagiarize off of either or anything but the flower poem idea came from them 1st is the song seymour sings in little shop of horrors telling the (unbeknownst 2 him talking cannibal) plant 2 grow the other is poem/song about the "pretty flower" sung by Lorenzo saint dumas (his friends call him lsd) in the 1st version of the producers |
