Yesterday I posted a message, “Who do you think you are”, all in fun expecting to receive some funny replies. And some replies were funny, but the most were from those condemning me for having the nerve to say something against the physical ability of those over fifty. What I wrote must have really hit home with them. There was even one, from western Pennsylvania that wrote me a letter and claimed she was a mountain climber and loved long walks on the beach. I wonder what beach she takes those long walks on in western Pennsylvania. I guess the point is, if we can’t joke about our age then maybe we do need to find a rocking chair and just give up. The fact is, I am sure that those who posted those hostile replies and claimed all the physical activities that they can do, could not keep up with me for more than an hour, in my daily routine, before they would be looking for a place to rest. That includes you too mountain climber. This whole thing was meant as a joke, but that crowd really out did me, they are the biggest joke of all.

You poke a stick at a sleeping bear and think its funny, make sure you can laugh at being mauled by the bear.

Ok jerry...I would love to put this thread to rest,but first I'd like to know what it is you do in your daily routine that any of us couldn't keep up with for more than an hour.Maybe the JOKE is on us.

Not a MOUNTAIN CLIMBER, Jerry, but definitely from Western PA and certainly enjoy very long, very slow walks on a beach. I like to go to the Outer Banks, usually in the Nat'l Seashore areas. Those areas have fewer people and the beach seems nearly pristine. The wet sand seems to provide the cushioning these old bones like...my legs don't seem to get so tired. Then of course, stopping to inspect all that has washed up (including debris...yuck) and watching for dolphins, cormorants & pelicans gives me a chance to rest. I try to go for a week every year, but I've missed the last 2 :-(...the ocean, the salt air and the beach seem to rejuvinate me. I've missed that and am more than just a bit jealous at how handy the shore is to you.

I'm glad to hear that this was all a joke. It might have been misunderstood, but your distain for so many with your explaination is disconcerting, but quite clear. I'm sorry you feel that way.

And why can't a person in Pennsylvania drive to the beach? I do day trips all the time. A 3-4 hour drive.

I'd like to hear what Jerry does too. I've been learning all kind s of new things since my divorce, one being riding a motorcycle..I want to go white water rafting. I'm 55 and didn't get to do those things when I was younger since I married at 17 and raised 4 kids.

By the way, I have 6 grandkids and they are a lot to keep up with too. Hey Jerry, can I come and follow you around? or will that be the other way, you following me what time I'm not dragging you behind me.

Jer you've got one hellva warped sense of humor if you found your "joke" to be funny. Sweetheart I could probably run circles around you in what I have to do in my daily rountine.

I'd say that is an accurate statement!! I may not run fast at my age, but, dont let me catch you!!!!!!
