One way of looking at it is that why should he continue to control your feelings even after it's over? I mean, what's the alternative to taking the risk again? Being alone? Some people are cool with that and there's no problem in being cool with that; but if you've decided that you don't want to be alone don't let your past dictate your future. You're past is there to make your future decisions more educated, not to set your future path in stone...
