During the last days of the space race in the 1960’s the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration, decided it needed a ball point pen to write in the zero gravity confines of its’ space capsules.
After considerable research and development, the Astronaut pen was produced at a cost of approximately $1 million U.S. dollars.
The pen worked and also enjoyed some modest success as a novelty item back here on Earth.
The Soviet Union, faced with the same problem, used a pencil.

www.spacepen.com In 15 years Ive carried one in my wallet. Never leaked. Always worked. The the Corps, I wrote in the rain with it. Wrote underwater with it. In these instances a pencil tends to tear the paper:wink:

hmmmm. always works. performs as advertised. Has been widely used for in the military for years. They have a nice factory there in Nevada. Good local business. Sounds like a million dollars well spent
